Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 2nd VII vs  King's College School (KCS), Wimbledon
On: Saturday, 11 Mar 2017
Venue: at Home

The Second VII had another fantastic weekend; our opponents this week were KCS Wimbledon. We have had a good season of first quarters and today was no exception, some great shooting and attacking drives led to a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

We held form through to half time with Anna Whitworth and Molly Saunders providing the mid court turnover that has come to typify their game. Macy McCutcheon and Saunders made some beautiful feeds into the circle and our shooting remained on top form from Potter and Spreeth entering half time with a 20-7 lead.

The third quarter saw some excellent support through the mid court from the defence with POM Izzy Hammersley taking the majority of our centre passes and driving through the centre third. KCS did seem to rally and this third quarter remains a point of focus for the team: 29-13 at three quarter time.

The final quarter showed the fitness and strength of this team. Lara Sibley at GK had made it difficult for KCS to get the ball to their shooters and their final score of 15 with only two goals in the final quarter shows how dominant she and Hammersley were in the circle defence. Esme Cosham made some lovely drives as GA and some fantastic shots were scored by both her and Potter, a real area of strength for this team.

Our objective was to hold form throughout the entire game and the girls met that objectie emphatically to emerge from the match as 42-15 victors. Well played to all involved!
