The girls did fabulously. The junior girls (Poppy McCutcheon, Emma Shilton, Kennedy Gordon and Naomi George) had some tough competition as they are all one year young in their category. Kennedy came 8th in the 200m individual medley and Naomi George was a highlight with a second place in the 100m breaststroke. The intermediate girls (Anna Stansfield, Aurelia Loth and Lilly Nowers) also had a successful event. Anna Stansfield came 3rd in the 100 breaststroke and Aurelia came 3rd in the 100m butterfly with 3 seconds off her personal best. Martha hansford swam for the first time in the seniors and came 4th in a very tight race. She had the fastest time for an U5th pupil and also knocked of 3 seconds from her personal best. Poppy Maunder came 5th in the backstroke having swim against the British record holder for the event.
The boys continued their success. The junior boys were Thomas Peel, Max Grey and Jacob Costard (who bravely competed for the first time ever). Thomas came 5th in the 100m backstroke and Max came 7th in the 100m freestyle also swimming a year young. The intermediate boys were Matthew O'Niel and Fergus Ames who swam brilliantly. The senior boys were again the highlight of the evening. Bruce McCormick came 2nd in the 100m freestyle in an incredibly tight race where the top three times were within 3 tenths of a second from each other. Ben Simpson won the 100m breaststroke quite easily. Matthew Thomas came 3rd in the 100m backstroke and Ed Reed came 3rd in the 200m individual medley. They boys have won the senior trophy overall. It's the first time St John's has won the senior category.
