St John's School, Leatherhead 2nd VII vs Cranleigh School
On: Saturday, 04 Mar 2017
The Seconds put in another dominant performance this weekend. The girls came out the blocks strong in the first quarter, taking a 13-4 lead with brilliant shooting from Hannah Potter and Rene Spreeth with Kirsten Hume and Molly Saunders feeding some fantastic passes into the circle.
The second quarter saw Cranleigh rally and a more even quarter left the half time score at 19-10. But not to be long subdued, St John's came out of the half time break fighting and some excellent turn overs from the defensive unit of Charlotte Corbett, Izzy Hammersley and Anna Whitworth saw St John's begin to return to their first quarter form. Turnover balls consistently resulted in scoring opportunities and St John's extended their lead to 11 at 28-17.
The final quarter saw this team show what they are capable of with some excellent play through court from POM Saunders, attacking drives from Macy McCutcheon and some brilliant shooting and movement in the circle from Spreeth and Esme Cosham resulting in a final score of 44-22. The seconds have scored 40 goals or more in their last four outings and we hope to carry this form to the end of the season; well played girls!
