Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 5th VII vs  Cranleigh School
On: Saturday, 21 Jan 2017
Venue: at Home

Today was the girls first match of the season and what a start! We had a good first quarter as the girls played together for the first time. They moved around the court well and began to get used to each other’s playing styles. We won the first quarter 10-2. The girls gained in confidence in the second quarter and we really began to see Charlie, Emma, Louisa and Millie defending and intercepting multiple passes and disrupting the oppositions game, this allowed us to win the second quarter 13-0. During the third quarter, the shooting partnership between Hope and Darcy was in full swing with both girls moving around the goal area well. We also saw some lovely centre court play from Saskia and Vicky who both read the game well and appeared to be everywhere! We won the third quarter 14-2. The final quarter showed how far the girls had come in a short space of time with some lovely flowing passes and teamwork. Towards the end of the match, the girls tired so we will be working on fitness over the coming weeks! The final quarter was one 11-3 leading to our fantastic overall victory of 48-7. Well done girls, what an excellent start to the season – keep it up! The MVP was voted for by the other team and this week it was Darcy Barnes our captain.
