St John's School, Leatherhead 2nd VII vs St George's College, Weybridge
On: Saturday, 07 Jan 2017
The Second VII started the season in supreme form with an impressive display against St George's.
The first quarter set off to a strong start with St John's storming ahead to a 11 - 4 lead. Hannah Potter and Rene Spreeth had a sterling game between them, scoring some fantastic shots throughout the game.
Our midcourt performance was particularly strong in the second quarter with Kirsten Hume and Molly Saunders making some strong drives across the transverse line and feeding the shooters consistently and accurately. At half time, St John's had a convincing lead of 19 - 7.
Charlotte Corbett came into the defence in the third quarter and made some great interceptions with Lara Sibley doing an excellent job at GD, keeping their quick goal attach out of play.
Despite St George's trying to fight back in the third and final quarters, St John's maintained focus and consistency and won the game comfortably 31 - 13. Molly Saunders was named player of the match for bringing the ball strongly through the mid court, but all the girls played brilliantly; showing the huge potential that this team has to excel in the season ahead.
