St John's School, Leatherhead Girls-U12A vs St George's College, Weybridge
On: Saturday, 07 Jan 2017
Venue: at Home
U12 A’s started with a new combination of Molly Wolff at Goal Shooter. St George’s are a well-established team and it took a couple of quarters to settle into positions and the defense to break down the tall opposition.
The U12A’s lost the game 11-15 but the story of the game was in the second half. The defense end were outstanding, lead by Kennedy Gordon and supported by Naomi George and Elizabeth Pryor. They all turned over ball and brought it down court with a good level of basic skills. This lifted the shooters who started to nail their shots and St Johns won the second half 8-7. Molly Wolff earned the title of most valuable player as she clung on to some very difficult balls that were contested hard by the opposition.
For a first match of the season St Georges are a good measure for the standard of game St Johns are at. The second half showed that this is an excellent start for the U12A’s and demonstrated just what we are capable of.
