Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 5th VII vs  Epsom College Girls-U18D
On: Saturday, 04 Feb 2017
Venue: Away

Epsom is always an exciting game for the girls and today’s fixture against their fourth team did not disappoint. With a number of changes in the team since the last game, the girls have been focusing on playing together in training and learning some set plays. During the game, the set passes had a big influence with the girls always secure on the centre and back line passes. The girls got off to an excellent start with Louise and Hope shooting to put us ahead winning the first quarter 13-5. This steadied the girl’s nerves and we really began to play well as a team. The second quarter was tightly contested, despite some excellent play from our defence team of Lily, Emma and Anya Epsom and St Johns draw the third quarter 11 all. Epsom made some team changes in the third quarter and the girls needed to find an extra gear to step up despite tiring a little. We lost the third quarter 5-7. This made the girls more determined to win and the girls found some extra energy especially in the centre court Sophie, Rhianna and Natty all playing extremely well. This allowed the girls to win the final quarter 8-0. The overall win of 37-23 was well deserved, well done girls! The most valuable player voted by Epsom was Louise Barr.
