On: Saturday, 04 Feb 2017
Venue: Away

St John's Seconds were on fine form this afternoon. We started strong taking a 12-5 lead in the first quarter. Newcomer to the team Izzy Hammersley had a great start at WD and both Rene Spreeth and Esme Cosham played flawlessly all match.

We continued to advance in the second quarter, with Kirsten Hume dominating the centre pass and our shooters continuing to shine St John's pulled ahead to take a 22-13 lead. Macy McCutcheon came one for her first game this season and made some fantastic interceptions. Our defence made life difficult for their shooters with Anna Whitworth and Lara Sibley making them work for every opportunity.

Into the third quarter the strength of our team shone through with Molly Saunders making some excellent drives and feeding well into the circle with Hume on the circle edge. St John's edged into the lead 33-18.

The final quarter saw us drop off the pace with Epsom pulling back and winning the quarter. The game, however, went to St John's finishing 40-28. It was a convincing win in the local derby and the team is showing how they have grown and developed in skill, dynamism and working as a team.
