St John's School, Leatherhead 1st XI vs The Oratory School

Venue: at Home
The St John's 1st XI continued their fine form with their fifth win in a row against a resolute Oratory side this weekend. The game started in a sluggish manner with St John's struggling to find their characteristic rhythm and not really troubling the opposition goalkeeper. As the Bond, Neale and Coughlan axis began to turn the screw we started to recycle possession and create a number of chances from free flowing, attacking football. However, it was from Baker's long throw and Coughlan's head that the deadlock was broken. Coughlan making it 10 goals in 8 games. As the half ended St John's movement and passing had become slicker.
The second half started with Oratory sitting deep in their half and St John's finding it difficult to break them down. However, eventually our passing football was rewarded with Silas-Paul Johnson slotting home two goals from well-worked counter attacks. The opposition did manage to create a few chances and were rewarded with a goal for their efforts to at the time make it 2-1.
Not the best of performances but good sides get the job done.
