St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U15C vs Harrow School
On: Saturday, 04 Mar 2017
Saturday 4th March
Away to Harrow School (5-0 Loss)
With a backdrop of Wembley stadium, a slow start cost the boys in green dearly. Harrow with a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes after a couple of well worked goals and some slack defending from St John's. The team tightened up a little and Bell, hurrying the defence, got a couple of chances although no goals. The message at half-time being to work together rather than as individuals.
The second half was a much improved performance, the defence looking stronger, Cloughley controlling the park decently from midfield and Tudor and Bell getting chances. Harrow managed a goal midway through the second half and whilst St John's did get the ball in the net, it was ruled out for offside. Both teams came close to spectacular goals, Harrow's midfielder, sporting an interesting fluorescent headband, hit the post after lobbing Gray in goal from distance and Cloughley with a cracking volley on target from out wide, saved by the Harrow goalkeeper.
Despite, the scoreline, the game was generally evenly contested, save for the opening 20 minutes, although even the most arduous St John's supporter would have to admit that Harrow had a slight edge on the game. Final game of the season next week away at The Oratory School.
