St John's School, Leatherhead 3rd XI vs Harrow School
On: Saturday, 04 Mar 2017
Venue: at Home
The Third XI started the game in a very lacklustre fashion. Within 15 minutes of the first half St John's were still off the pace and a sloppy challenge meant that a penalty was given and they were one goal down. Shortly after this Harrow scored another and by this stage Harrow looked very good indeed and and it looked to all in green that it was going to be a tough afternoon. Credit however must be given to the Third XI as their heads did not seem to drop and seizing a moment when the Harrow defence seemed to be very much relaxing, Ollie Attard who captained the side for the day, broke into the box where he was brought down and a penalty was awarded. Ollie subsequently scored the penalty and left St Johns only one goal down at half time. The second half produced a different performance from St John's and with some solid performances from individuals such as Harry Hayes in the middle of the pitch, the men in green looked strong. A nippy break from Harry Robinson down the left hand side gave a great opportunity for Olly Attard to poach and slot his second out of the game to bring the scores level.
This left the Harrow side bemused that they were being held to a draw and began to make some silly errors. With both sides looking for the win, the last 5 minutes of the game was very tense.
Thankfully St Johns managed to hold on for a draw which is deserved for the effort and commitment they showed to come down from two goals.
