St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U16A vs Haileybury
On: Saturday, 25 Feb 2017
Venue: at Home
As the tail end of storm Doris passed over new fields, we were not faced with the best conditions for a football match, but playing with the wind in the first half and some good wide play saw us take an early lead when the ball was played through to Fildes who slotted home confidently. Billy Lee made some strong runs down the right and an ensuing corner was well headed home by Bayly. However we couldn’t quite convert our dominance into more goals before half time.
Now playing into the wind and with Haileybury looking to go route one it was the John’s boys who again started the strongest. Two free kicks lead to two goals, Geddes clearing up in the box, and two minutes later Titus Tressider scoring directly. The game then became a touch scrappy and although we kept another clean sheet, at times we looked a little out of shape in defence. However another strong victory places us back at the top of the table with the potential title decider looming next weekend against Harrow.
