Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 3rd XI vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 25 Feb 2017
Venue: at Home

The 3rdXI competed against an energetic Haileybury side in cold blustery conditions. After some good possession, St John's dropped off the pace and as a result of not clearing our lines Haileybury snuck in for the first goal of the game.

Credit must be given to the St John's side however who were spurred on by this setback and after putting together several passages of play, were rewarded when Ollie Attard was fouled in the box. Although the resulting penalty was saved, Harry Robinson was on hand to poach for an equalising goal.

The second half was almost a mirror image of the first half, and Haileybury began to step up their game with and had several good shots at goal including one that rattled crossbar. Eventually something had to give and Haileybury got their deserved second goal to put the score to 1-2.

St John's once again showed that they were mental able to overcome this and led superbly by Joe Witt and some strong play by Tom Davison, allowed Harry Robinson to score his second of the match and put the score to 2-2.

With 10 minutes to go the pace of the game picked up significantly and although several opportunities were had by both sides, they had to settle for a point each.
