St John's School, Leatherhead Girls-U15B vs Epsom College
On: Saturday, 04 Feb 2017
Venue: at Home
The U15Bs had a thrilling match against Epsom at home in the sports hall. We came out strong and built up a fair lead early in the first quarter, but the Epsom girls soon acclimatised to our level of play and closed the gap. St John's remained four goals ahead for the next two quarters (though Epsom nearly got their noses in front after a run of goals in the third quarter) but the girls were determined to beat their local rivals convincingly. In the final quarter, the girls were cool, calm and collected, moving the ball smoothly down the court and capitalising on our opportunities in the D, leaving the final score at 28-15.
This victory was hard-earned and a true team effort, with every player pushing themselves to the limit. Jasmin Walker was awarded player of the match by the opposition team thanks to her ever-accurate shooting. However, my stars of the match were Jemima Good (GD) and Martha Witt (GK) who were tireless in their attempts to thwart the opposition attack. Jemima made countless interceptions and Martha's tight marking and superb lean gave Epsom very few opportunities to score.
The U15Bs remain unbeaten so far this season.
