St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U16A vs Radley College
On: Saturday, 28 Jan 2017
Venue: at Home
Another convincing start from St John's saw the boys take the lead with Fildes taping in from two yards out and as a result the game became open with the wide players and both forwards running into space. On 13 minutes Rowlands converted a strong run and it looked like the floodgates might open. Two more well finished goals lead to a buoyant half time, but the message was clear - make the advantage count and do not take the foot off the gas.
Radley came out with little more intensity and although they were pushing on upfront their midfieldld sat deep and we found them tough to break down, perhaps at times being guilty of trying fancy moves rather than the passing game which had given us the advantage. However the gaps were still there and we continue to score from corners, with Bayly taking advantage of space in the box to complete his first league hayrick of the season.
We expect a sterner test next week against an unbeaten St Paul’s team before we head into the half term break.
