Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead Girls Junior C vs  Hurstpierpoint College
On: Saturday, 15 Oct 2016
Venue: at Home

The Junior Cs were excited to play in their first home fixture earlier today, in front of a supportive crowd. We were up against a strong side from Hurstpierpoint College and early jitters were evident as the opposition were able to score four goals in the first 15 minutes. However, our girls refused to give up and, thanks to some sterling work by Isla Cory (GK), Ruby Li, Georgie Ellis and others in defense, Hurstpierpoint found it increasingly difficult to score against us.

We began the second half 6-0 down but the girls had been inspired by the strength of the opposition to play the best hockey that we have ever seen from them. We were creating space out wide and looking to pass the ball up to Katie Webb, Bella Oakley, Katie Simmonds and Charlotte Jones who all made some strong moves on the ball. Hurstpierpoint were only able to score two goals in this half, leaving the final score at 8-0. It should be stressed that the scoreline in this case does not tell the full story, as our girls improved immensely during the course of the match and by the end were playing some outstanding hockey.
