St John's School, Leatherhead Girls-U15A vs U16 County Finals at St George's, Weybridge
On: Thursday, 13 Oct 2016
St. John's U15A team went into yesterdays tournament excited and eager to play some high quality opposition.
There first game was against Kingston Grammar school, the match was close throughout with both teams having chances inside the attacking circle. Kingston went into half time with a narrow 1-0 lead. The second half was much of the same with both teams fighting it out in the middle of the pitch but Kingston where able to score two more goals. Final score 3-0 but the scored did not match the girls effort and performance.
Going into the second match the St. John's where excited and nervous after watching the last game go to penalty flicks. They where up against Streatham and Clapham a team we have never played before which added to the anticipation. Match started at a fast pace with the St. John's girls on top right from the start, there effort was rewarded when Phoebe McCutcheon somehow managed to squeeze the ball past the goalkeeper from a narrow angel, this seemed to bring a swarm of confidence to the team. As they continued to become more and more attacking it left gaps for the Streatham and Clapham team which lead to there first goal of the game. It was a nail biting game with the score line bouncing back and forward. Unfortunately after a great goal from Caitlin Allan to make it 2-2 the Steatham and Clapham side scored a late winner to make the final score 3-2.
Overall the team put in a great effort and where a credit to the school. This team continue to progress and get better with every game.
