U12 B’s Vs. St. Mary’s (Home)

The sun was shining, the air was fresh and our young Eagles were ready for a change in the score card. In the most exhilarating match of the season, the girls dug deep and worked hard to give them their second win of the season. A small delay in the start time due to traffic gave the girls some time to focus and get their head into the game. When the starting whistle finally blew, the match began with a spark. With some great defending play from Faye and Hannah B we managed to channel the ball down the pitch and place some great pressure on a strong St. Mary’s side. The hard work put in during training is starting to come to light on the pitch with some fantastic passes and movement between our mids and attacks. Unfortunately, a slight lapse of structure and concentration resulted in a goal for St. Mary’s. Yet, this only fuelled the drive to win from our attackers and a beautiful goal came from some great team work between Olivia and Kennedy. With lots of rolling subs to allow these little legs to rest, a well-earnt break came at half time, with some wise words from Mr Marshall. With the score level at half time, the girls knew exactly what they needed to do to win, and with the support of a fantastic home crowd, now was the time. In the second half, the girls worked well maintaining possession for the majority of play, and working hard to regain possession when it was lost. With legs running tirelessly, it was a skillful run from Elizabeth that resulted in another great goal to give us the leading edge. However, St. Mary’s were smart and caught us on the back foot equalising with only 5 minutes to go. Hearts were racing and the pressure was on, but once again the team worked well to attack as a team. With some fantastic drives and shots a goal, the golden moment came for Kennedy to just nudge the ball into the back of the goal minutes before the full time whistle. An incredible game played by all, a fantastic crowd, and one very proud coach. Well done, Eagles!
