Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead Girls-U14A vs  Cranleigh School
On: Saturday, 12 Nov 2016
Venue: at Home

The U14A's knew that Cranleigh were always going to be a physically, strong and skilful opposition. Both team started brightly and it was a great match up for the runners-up of the London Cup to take on the Runners-up of the Surrey equivalent. Both teams held possession well through the middle, but our Eagles were making silly mistakes which allowed Cranleigh into the game more than we would have hoped. Cranleigh were particularly pacey through the middle and St JOhn's did little to stop them penetrating our D several times. Molly Warner made some excellent saves, But Cranleigh found the gap. A classic self promoting half time talk was what St John's needed and the second half was a different story. Holly Hume did an excellent job of man marking their best player out the game and it was a great run from Wheels down the right who crossed it to the left post for Hume to also fire in the equaliser. From then the momentum was St John's but we simply did not have enough shots on goal. An excellent game with both teams playing some outstanding competitive hockey. Certainly a fixture to watch in years to come.
