Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U15C vs  Tonbridge School
On: Saturday, 07 Jan 2017
Venue: at Home

The U15Cs began their season against a strong Tonbridge side in very difficult conditions. Both teams started well and probed each other like a game of chess. Brown, Parker, Eichelmann and White played extremely well together and shut down the Tonbridge attack effectively in the first half. Smitherman, Coulter, Sargent also played well and continued to pressure the Tonbridge midfield. Unfortunately it was the poor conditions and slippery pitch which allowed Tonbridge to go one up initially. Austin Bell played extremely well in goal and commanded his area well. In the second half, it became clear that fitness became an issue and Tonbridge was able to exploit this in midfield. Despite this Turner, Cobham and Strorra put pressure on the Tonbridge defence, with Turner’s long range shot just skimming off the crossbar. Tonbridge then scored another scrappy goal from a corner and a further two which put the game out of reach for St. John’s. Despite this, it was a very solid performance and the team played well with plenty learnt in regards to positioning and areas to improve for the next week. Overall a very good performance despite the 0-4 loss. Eichelmann – man of the match
