U14B vs Wimbledon College

LOST 55-0

The first match of the season for this new team was a tough assignment. The boys had worked hard during the week but were still only just getting to know one another. Wimbledon College opened extremely well scoring a try within the first 30 seconds. St. John’s did well after this to regain their composure and started to organise their backline much more effectively. This continued to improve throughout the match with excellent communication by Henry Corbett and Ethan Macallister. Unfortunately there were a few injuries leading to some of the boys moving up from the C team who acquitted themselves well. Wimbledon College battled effectively and managed to score further tries in both halves leading to a score of 55-0. On the whole this was an encouraging first match against quality opposition and the boys improved a lot even during the course of the match. Hopefully next time some of the breakthroughs by Fergus Ames and Wilf Morris will lead to points on the scoreboard. A special mention goes to Ethan Macallister who was man of the match for his excellent handling and all round play.
