U14B vs RGS Guildford
After the heroics of the second half of last week's match against an extra man, the U14B have gelled well as a team this week and were really ready for a tough fixture against RGS.
We started much better than in previous weeks and utilised the pace of Michael Anderson and Omar Matthias on the wings well to test out the Guildford defence. In a very high quality first half, both defences were superbly well organised and the first half ended without any score on the board for either team.
The first ten minutes of the second half continued in the same vein with excellent tackling from Wilf Morris and Patrick O'Neill keeping the opposition's pack quiet and Charlie Wolff marshalling the defence well and tidying up any loose ends. Out of nowhere, then, Harry Lawes managed to break through a couple of tackles and ran half the length of the pitch to score in the corner.
There were still ten minutes to hold on for the win and the boys continually surprised RGS with a quick blitz defence and good kicking from Sam Sharp and Charlie Wolff cleared our lines time after time.
The boys were, unsurprisingly, delighted with the the first win of the season and should be looking to build on this fantastic performance over the coming weeks.
Man-of-the-match was Charlie Wolff for an almost flawless performance, playing out of position, at inside-centre.
