Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U12B vs  Trinity School, Croydon
On: Wednesday, 05 Oct 2016
Venue: Away

(Result: Lost 9-0)

This fixture saw a welcomed break in the rugby season with an opportunity for the boys to try their hand at a different sport and to play in a team with different individuals. Full of excitement, the boys arrived to a cold and windy Trinity, but eager to channel their energy into a good fight. In the early stages of the match it was clear that Trinity were a well-oiled, well-rehearsed football team, though our boys were quick in defence to keep the attack away. Despite some fantastic saves by Will Sumpter and great tackles by Ben Macateer and Sam Phillips, Trinity played to their strengths and managed to score a number of times. In a real credit to St.John's the boys continued to strive for a counter attack and held their heads high. At half time, we came up with 3 main aims – more movement, more communication and to pass the ball out wide, and right from the beginning of the second half, it was clear the boys had taken this onboard. Again with some outstanding saves by Luke Akam-Taylor, and great support from Louis Norris and Joseph Mullen, John's managed to hold off Trinity and place a bit more pressure on them. Despite all their efforts, we couldn't break past the strong Trinity defence but the boys finished the game as they had started – excited and with big smiles on their faces.
