St John's School, Leatherhead Girls 2nd XI vs Ardingly College
On: Saturday, 15 Oct 2016
Venue: at Home
Following a silver medal in the U18 Surrey County trophy, spirits were high within the 2nd XI. The opponents were Ardingly College and a 3-3 draw last year suggested a close match. As the game began, both teams challenged the opposition defence, but neither team was able to break through. St John;s struggled to string passes together and create quality goalscoring opportunities. Esme Cosham made some excellent runs to the left flank and this resulted in St John's taking the lead. Molly Saunders found Esme, she drove into the D and played the ball to Live Conboy. The keeper made a save, but the girls were able to smuggle in the rebound. The score was 1-0 at half time and it was still all to play for. The second half was an excellent display. They had better structure and organisation which resulted in them dominating the game. Molly Saunders scored her first of the season with a lovely push into the corner from the top of the D. John's then scored the best goal of the season to made the score 3-0. As Saunders drove forward from the midfield, she played the ball into Ruby Breakspear on the left wing. Rub y spotted Rene Spreeth on the top of the D. She controlled the ball and rounded the keeper. Player of the game was Molly Saunders for another diligent performance.
