Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead Boys-U14C vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 19 Nov 2016
Venue: Away

Saturday 19th November

Away to Haileybury (27-22 Loss)

St John's started the game quickly and dominantly, Timpson at number 8 with a blindside run and score. Shortly afterwards, the boys dominance told when they forced Haileybury to touch down behind their own try line, the resulting scrum gave a run to Timpson who was tackled on the line and despite the bodies, Morgan managed to pick the ball up and touch the ball down over the line, the referee commenting on the minimal contact the ball made with the ground but awarding the try. This left St John's 12-0 up after a quarter of an hour. Haileybury got back into the game though with two quick tries from left winger before half-time.

The second half started as the first ended and Haileybury got another brace of tries to lead 20-12 with five minutes to play. St John's weren't done however and quickly responded with a try by Zubaidi after good pressure, picking the ball and diving around the ruck to score. Haileybury countered and straight from kick off won a line-out from which they scored again leaving St John's 2 minutes to score two tries. The spirits were not dropped though and Zubaidi again crossed the line to leave a nail-biting final passage of play. Unfortunately St John's couldn't get that final try to equalise/win and Haileybury took the spoils in a game St John's will be disappointed to have lost.
