Match Report
St John's School, Leatherhead 3rd XV vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 19 Nov 2016
Venue: at Home

The lack of a game last week showed, with some sloppy passages of play in the first five minutes meaning the visitors went five points up early doors, but the first half was one marred by poor finishing and lack of initiative from the home team. A much better start to the second half saw Ben Gadsby take us back to 3-5 with a well-executed penalty, before man-of-the-match Harry Sweetland forced his way over the line, duly converted by Gadsby for a 10-5 lead with 6 minutes remaining. At this point, a slew of injuries meant the opposition had gone down to 14 men, and St John's duly matched this. The opposition were dogged to the end, punching through for an equaliser, with the game finishing 10-10. A better display by the team - earlier in the season, the defence would have been a let down in this type of game, so credit for keeping the draw - but work to do to make sure we win this sort of game in future.
